15 Simmering Potpourri Recipes will Make Your Home Smell Amazing!

Potpourri recipes

Simmering potpourri is one of the best ways to add non-toxic fragrance to your home using simmering water infused with delightful, healing spices.

To make simmering potpourri, just fill a pot with water, add your favorite ingredients and simmer all day. Be sure to keep it on a low heat, never leave unattended, and top up with more water as needed.  An added benefit is that this will also help humidify your home.

Common ingredients include: Orange, lemon and lime peels, apple skins (dry them out first before storing in a container) and assorted spices.

Although there are virtually infinite ingredients and combinations, we’ve listed below for you a bunch of delicious simmer pot recipes for you to try out.  Once you’ve tried them out, if you’re feeling experimental you can try your own recipes for new aromatic combinations.

Caution: Set a timer for about 30 minutes so you don’t forget to keep an eye on your mixture. Never let your pot burn dry, and never leave the house with your mixture simmering.
